How to clean your sterling silver

Is your Sterling Silver Jewelry looking a little tarnished? Does it need some sprucing up? I did a little research and found some natural ways to clean your sterling silver jewelry.

Aluminum foil-For your badly tarnished jewelry, here is an easy natural way to clean it. Cover the inside bottom of a glass heat proof dish and place a piece of aluminum foil, shiny side up inside it. Put the tarnished silver in the bottom of the dish and add 1 big tablespoon of baking soda, and then slowly pour boiling water over it until it covers the piece. The tarnish will gradually collect on the aluminum foil and clean the sterling. This is my favorite way to clean my jewelry when I have many pieces that need to be cleaned at once.

Baking soda-For just one piece of jewelry a baking soda paste is better. Make a paste out of baking soda and water. Rub the piece of jewelry gently and then rinse with water and polish dry with a soft cloth. It's amazing how well the baking soda works.

Toothpaste-You can also use toothpaste to clean off tarnish. Coat the silver with toothpaste, then run it under warm water, and work it into a foam. Rinse off. For stubborn stains or where there is a lot of hard to reach places, use a soft toothbrush. The toothbrush works great at getting inside grooves or on chains.
To maintain that sparkle: We recommend keeping it in a ziploc bag when not in use. This will help keep it safe from air, which aids in tarnishing. Give it a touch up cleaning with a soft polishing jewelry cloth. Only get it wet when rinsing off the baking soda or toothpaste. NEVER using liquid jewelry cleaner.
Hopefully this helps you clean up your jewelry and add a little bit of bling. Our cute jewelry girl just sent us a bunch of her new creations. Stop on in and take a look!

How do I keep my bag looking shiny and new?

How do I keep my bag looking shiny and new?
Keeping a purse looking new and sparkly sometimes can seem like a real chore, but it doesn't always need to be.
I found some fast and easy tips to help you keep your bag looking shiny and new.

Man Made Leather-Take a soft damp cloth to periodically wipe down the outside. This helps to get rid of everyday dust and minor spills.
Just a periodic cleaning will keep your purse looking new.

Cotton Bags-Take cotton purses and throw into washing machine with a touch of dawn or shampoo (gets rid of the body oils) on cold water and the gentle cycle. May sound primitive but these are safe and gentle on your items. When done washing, tumble dry on low heat or air dry. Do not dry on high heat as this can damage the fibers, aging your purse fast.

Dry Clean Only-Dry clean only purses should always visit a dry cleaners. Don't wait until it's dirty. Get it cleaned once a month. Don't try to do this at home with home dry cleaning kits. These could damage your bags.

A woman's purse can be one of the dirtiest items you own next to your shoes. Wash your hands often and never place your bag on the floor and spray down with a light spray of Lysol from time to time. This will help cut down on the germs you spread unknowingly with your purse.

When that purse becomes a bit tattered, trade it in for a new one. Stitching becomes old and easily broken. This can make it easy for a thief to rip your favorite handbag from your clutches.

Hope these tips help to give your handbag a longer life. When you are ready for a new bag just come on in and we will help fit you with the right bag for your body, style and taste.

Oh Cardigans...How do I love thee!

By now it’s hardly news that Bags That Fit Girls like their cardigans. From beautiful rusty reds to delicious sugary cremes.

The result: a renewed interest in a sweater that's never gone out of style. Designers across the board reworked the essential cover-up for fall, proving that there are a million ways to wear it, from preppy to classy and everywhere in between.

We love cardigans with a long and languid silhouette. Pair it with a light and thin turtleneck or a soft tee. The cropped cardigans add texture and a pop of color. They look great with jeans tucked into boots. The perfect jean to wear with boots? Of course, is always a skinny jean. The best part? When skinny jeans are tucked into boots they work perfect with any body type!
