Celebrate National BFF Day at BTF

This picture obviously wasn't done by a professional.  I'm sweaty, tired, my shorts are hiked up...defiantely not fashion forward. BUT this is one of my favorite pictures.  Why?  I never thought I'd EVER run Ragnar.  But I did because of the encouragement of my BFF and I have accomplished a lot in my life because of her.

I love this pic because there is my BFF cheering me on at the finish line. It reminds me how blessed I am to have such an amazing person in my life. She constantly picks me up, loves me for who I am and calls me out on my crap. I call her my "twin flame".  Our personalities couldn't be more different but we work. Millions of memories, good/bad/funny/sad. I love that we can finish each others sentences, sense when one is anxious, depressed or just needs chips & salsa.  I love that I can walk into her home without even knocking.  I love that I can call her any time and she WILL be there for me.

Bags That Fit was created because of her.  She helped me take a leap into unknown territory. 5 years later and we're still going.  Over the years we have made wonderful friends in the shop--customers as well as our beautiful shop girls.  I love that we have a place where we can make more friends and memories.

How To Wednesday! Colored Denim is HOT!

There is no denying it...colored denim is here to stay this spring! I can't stop smiling! There is something about color that just makes me happy! After years of wearing blue, black and grey denim--I am more then thrilled at the rainbow of choices available!

What color is your favorite?

This trend is fairly new and for those of you still warming up to it, here are some "How To Wear Colored Tips"

1. Contrast. It's all about contrast. Try a simple neutral pattern and pair it up with a cardi in the same color family--just don't match the blues exactly. Mix & match colors. Try blue and pink, or mustard with navy.

2. White, Black or Neutral. Attention will go to the pants if you keep the colors basic. These blue pants POP against a neutral, soft patterned top. However, when in doubt, wear white! Attention is sure to go to the pants and not seem like overkill!

3. Solids or Low Key Pattern. Patterns are so fun! But when your wearing colored denim be sure NOT to go overboard. An overly pattered shirt will scream LOOK AT ME! You want to draw attention but pick one. Denim or top?

*Secret Tip* Wear the same colored shoes! This tricks the eye and will make your legs look longer!!

4. Keep Accessories Simple! When wearing denim try not to be too matchy, matchy. Let your jeans do the talking. Throw on a spring scarf or simple earrings. Just make sure you don't keep them all the same color! You don't want to look like a blueberry!

5. Keep is casual. Don't go overboard. When wearing color try a denim blazer/jacket or a casual tee.

Rock the baby doll sock!

Socks with open toed shoes--fashion faux pas? What once was a fashion NO NO has turned into the new hot trend! This look showed up on Oscar de la Renta's sping 2012 runway (and several other designers)

Think of socks as a new fun accessory! They can add a touch of creativity to any outfit and make it romantic, classic, sophisticated, trendy or funky. Best news is when executed RIGHT, socks can update any old shoe! (and yes, they are acceptable for women over 20!)

Here are some tips to rock the look!
1. Bare legs are a MUST! No wearing socks with leggings, jeans or tights.

2. EXPERIMENTATION is KEY! Be creative. Try to match the sock with the color of shoe or try and wear different colors and textures. Mix things together...just try it on before wearing it out!

3. YES, you can wear socks with open toed shoes! But you must make sure you get a sock that doesn't show a seam. Also, make sure the sock is THIN! No big bulky socks with Tevas!

4. Think of the season...pastels for spring or bold colors for fall?

5. Avoid looking like a school girl...NO pleated skirts. Also be sure to pair with a laced up ankle boot with a stiletto, wedge or chunky heel.

6. Consider the type of shoes you're wearing. If you mix pattens & textures then make sure the shoe is more solid or vice versa. If your sock is simple spice it up with a fun textured or bright fun shoe!

I know this trend may scare off a few and there is a very fine line between chic and tacky, but the key is to experiment and have FUN with your outfits! If all else fails...come to Bags That Fit and our shop girls will help you execute this look to perfection!

Big Birthday Bash THANK YOU!!!

Today, select items are 75% off!! It also marks the last day of our 5 year birthday bash. THANK YOU all for such an amazing celebration! Words can't express our gratitude and love for each of you! If you made it to the shop Friday or Saturday then you know how insane it was! People were lined up and some waited over an hour to pay for their items. Ladies were also lucky if they were able to get into a dressing room. We could have never expected such a wonderful response and it was so fun for us to hear your memories and thoughts about Bags That Fit.

If you were unable to attend, here is a peak of how things went.....

The night before we were fully stocked and ready to go! We even had more product coming Friday so we could restock...
This picture was taken right after our doors opened. It doesn't even do the madness justice. At one point we were calling our friends and asking them to come help work the shop. It was more crazy then any black Friday. We are sorry we couldn't answer the phone that day. We finally had to turn the ringer off because there wasn't even a second to answer the phone. Our neighbors at Avon said our line trickled clear over to them.
Even though we had new shipments come in, this is what our shop looked like after the event. EMPTY! Not even one top left on the walls or on our dress forms!

We literally got in the car and started ordering on Friday to restock. New shipments came yesterday and are coming all week long. The shop will be FULLY stocked by Saturday.

Thanks again to all for letting us live our dream and for making this event one of our favorite Bags That Fit memories!

5 year birthday kick-off starts TODAY!!!

We loved our little shop on Lehi Main, however, Amber & Shar felt it was time for more room and to take their dream to another level. 2 years ago BTF relocated to American Fork. There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears (literally) that went into this buildout. Amber painted it top to bottom, Shar had to learn fast how to fill nail holes and sand them away, and our sweet husbands and shop girls pitched in to help us get our beautiful black & white floors.

How to Wednesday! Finger Free Fashions!

Three little shop girls lost their mittens and they began to cry....

Oh, BTF dear, we sadly fear that we have lost our mittens"....

....What? Lost you're mittens? Well, we are glad we have a shop nearby!

Fingerless gloves are all the rave. Why you may say? There is a method to the madness:

1. Finger Free! Let the phone RING!

While the temps are cold outside, I find it hard to pull off the gloves every time I need to send a quick text or make a phone call. Fingerless gloves provide a toasty way of keeping those fingertips free!

2. A Splash of Color!

Wearing nothin but neutrals!? What a perfect way to add a touch of color & perfect way to highlight an outfit! Or flip flop it with the white above when your outfit carries the color!

3. Fashion Forward!

Leg warmers and fingerless gloves do serve great purpose, but of course they are also fashionable and add new flare! Try layering with arm warmers or pull into an outfit...Make people turn their heads. You are a fashion diva....own it! I adore these new mittens with a bow.

What!? Found your mittens?.......now, you shall have some pie!

How To Wednesday! Rock those leg warmers!

The most commonly asked question this season at Bags That Fit is: How do I wear these leg warmers?? Well ladies...NEVER FEAR! BTF shop girls are HERE!

Welcome back leg warmers! Here are a few rules to keep you stylin and comfy cozy this winter.

Rule 1: NO NEON. The 80's were fun and though leg warmers have made a come back remember to keep it fashion forward. When choosing a leg warmer stick with neutrals and warm colors: Black, grey, brown, cream, warm red, plum & blue. Also, make sure the texture isnt too bulky. This is also extremely important if you want to minimize your calves. Bright colors are fun but have been known to make your calves look bigger. Esp. when wearing with a skinny jean. They are more bulky then tights and leggings so neutrals are ideal.

***Important Tip*** When tucking into boots... DO NOT choose a heavy texture and the rule is to let them peak out 2-6 inches.

Rule 2: Wear with tights & leggings. For those of you that love to wear skirts and dresses this is a great option to keep your legs toasty. Make sure they are below your knee and you pull partly over the heel of your shoe....also OK to wear with flats. Rule 3: If you are going to wear over your shoes with skinnies....DO NOT wear a tall boot! Wear an ankle boot. OR
You will risk looking like this! Notice how bulky...and how those bright bold colors are just a little too much!
Rule 4: For something a little less casual and more sophisticated you'll love our lace boot socks. Great with skirts, over leggings....
or over denim....

Rule 5: Have fun with your own personal style! Trust yourself, add your own twist and you can never go wrong!

How To Wednesday.....say "cheers" in style. Holiday must haves.

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style....the streets are rockin holiday fashion and so should you!

Must Have Basics:

1. Neutrals and Sparkle! My favorite place this time of year is NYC. The smell of candy nuts, the hustle and bustle and best of all the holiday windows! This year windows were not full of bright red and green holiday wear but robust with neutrals! Nude shear colors are perfect on skin tones and easy to mix with a pop of color! Keep in mind: gold, silver, winter white and blush. Below is a great top with just enough sparkle. Sparkle is important...but be careful of not too much. Keep it simple!

***Bonus Tip*** RECYCLE! Remember that hot black blazer in your closet? Before shopping check your closet first! You may already have a great basic!

2. A Fabulous Dress, Cardi & Bling! Though a basic black cocktail dress is classic, switch it up with lace and your new neutral flare! Throw on a cute cardi for a pop of color, and as always dress it up with pearls or sparkly jewels.
3. A Great Coat. A little mustard anyone!? A coat with a bold color will always turn some heads.

4. Whimsical Scarf. A scarf not only keeps you comfy and warm...it also serves as a wonderful accessory. Grab a scarf with flare! It can turn a dull sweater into a fantastic top! It also eliminates the need to wear other accessories. A perfect way to make a statement!

5. Fantastic Fingerless Gloves. Now these, for me, are a MUST HAVE! I love how they keep my hands toasty but I still have the ability to text on my iPhone! Great for those of you who have touch screens!
